Tradition depicting ‘Aatida Onji Dina’ celebrated at B’lore Sangha

Bangalore: It was the day of 26th  July 2015 when the Devadiga families combined to celebrate the “Aatida Onji Dina”. The families presented their delicacies those which are predominantly prepared for this particular season.

Held at Vasavi Kalyana Mahal, Rajarajesharinagar,  Bangalore the families begin to usher the day on the early Sunday. Organised by the of the Devadiga Sangha, Bangalore with the support of Youth Wing and Ladies Wing the entire aura was no less than a grand family celebration. A little after 10 AM the stage was all set and the members of the Sangha had already turned up in large numbers which marked the beginning of the program.

Sri. Rajnikant S Kudpi (Organising Secretary, Devadiga Sangha Bangalore)  hosted the program, and was given an official start with the prayers to the almighty. Sung by Mr Prakash Pavanje the prayers seemed to strike the right chords among the people assembled. His voice echoed the perfect pitch and had set a positive vibe.

Followed by the prayers was the welcome speech by Sri Raghu Sherigar and inviting the chief  guests  Sri. Subash Chandra N on to the stage.

The program was  inaugurated by lighting the lamp by our chief guest Sri. Subash Chandra N,  Director – Sigma Punch Pvt Ltd and  Mr Raghu Sherigar, President, Devadiga Sangha , Bangalore. It also witnessed the traditional inauguration by opening of the Seree by and Smt. Anitha Subash Chandra and Sri. Subash Chandra N and allowing the flowers to bloom.

Our  President of Devadiga Sangha Mr Raghu Sherigar addressed the gathering stating the importance of such celebration. He emphasized how essential it is to follow our roots despite being occupied with our chores and have been away from the nativity. 

Our chief Guest Shri Subash Narayan Rao,  informed the gathering the  contribution made by of our seniors  and their role in getting land to the sangha. He appreciated the community  for taking the bold step of construction of our own building at our land and his support for the same.

Mr. O M Devadiga Vice President and Mr. H S Devaidga, Treasurer while speaking appreciated the efforts put by the youth and decorating the stage.

Mr ChandraShekar recollected the days of hardship during the rainy season in the coastal part. While it is difficult to find food items for the recipe those available in the backyard of the house is the only rescue at times.

Followed by the speech was a small skit performed which gave the audience a significance of Aati Kalenji. The skit performed Ramesh Devadiga as Aat Kalenja and Mr Subbash Devadiga was supported by Mr  Prakash Pavanje’s through his singing.
